KONOHA — KOKURA, KITAKYUSHU

A small yōshoku diner

Japanese-style Western comfort food, made to order. 16 seats, a short walk from Kokura Station.

About

What is “yōshoku”?

Yōshoku (洋食) is Japan’s own take on Western cooking — dishes like hamburg steak, omurice and Napolitan spaghetti that have been served in Japanese homes and diners for a century. Konoha keeps that tradition: a short menu, everything cooked when you order it.

  1. Demi-glace, three days in the making

Our demi-glace sauce simmers for three days. We never use ready-made sauce.

  2. Cooked to order

Hamburg steaks go on the grill only after you order, so please allow a little time.

  3. Thick-noodle Napolitan

Ketchup-based spaghetti with thick noodles — the old-fashioned way.

FAQ

For visitors from abroad

Is there an English menu?

Yes — this page is our English menu guide. Staff can also point to photos.

Do I need a reservation?

Walk-ins are welcome at lunch. For dinner or groups of five or more, please book. How to book is added when the site is produced.

Can I pay by credit card?

To be confirmed when the site is produced. Please carry some cash just in case — many small restaurants in Japan are cash-only.

Do you have vegetarian or halal options?

Please ask when you order. Some dishes can be made without meat; we cannot guarantee halal preparation.

Should I tip?

No. Tipping is not customary in Japan — a “gochisōsama” (thank you for the meal) is all we need.

Is it OK to bring children?

Yes. We have a kids’ plate, and all seating is at tables.
